Custom Vintage Embossed Vaughan & Bushnell Straight Claw Hammer
This auction is for a custom vintage Vaughan & Bushnell Straight Claw Hammer, brought to you by Stunner Blades Customs.
This vintage straight claw hammer head is in fantastic shape for it’s age. Research on this particular hammer head dates it to around the early 1920’s. The ‘Vaughan & Bushnell’ embossed stamp is in perfect condition. This head was thoroughly cleaned and refreshed.
An American hickory handle was chosen for this project. This handle was given the absolute treatment here at the shop. This handle was hand fit to this hammer head and was hand sanded for a minimum of 2 1/2 hours to achieve the smooth grip and grain pattern. The grain on this handle is definitely one of our best. The handle was finished with boiled linseed oil and genuine Odie’s Oil.
A custom Birch wedge was created and driven into the kerf using more boiled linseed oil and Titebond Ultimate. The top was cut proud 3/16” and a genuine ‘Taco’ brand stainless steel conical wedge driven in and hand sanded smooth.
This is an absolute brilliant hammer that was brought back to life. It is ready to go for you for another 100 years!
